The Bunge y Born Group started their activities in Brazil in 1905. In the mid 70’s, the cooperates decided to build their headquarters to centralize operations, among them S.A. Moinho Santista and Tintas Coral.
The project was developed by João Henrique Rocha. The architect’s proposal was very unique due to the innovative technology used. In his drawing board he designed the first intelligent building in Brazil, which only existed in Canada, Japan and Germany. The Center - Centro Empresarial de São Paulo, was born out of boldness, not only due to its innovative commercial nature but also due to its localization. The Complex was set up on a cliff with 200 thousand m² in a region where there were only a few houses and warehouses. In 1973, the project was initiated. It was carefully studied and involved 4 000 laborers. One year later, the first building – in the tallest spot- could be seen from afar, The Belvedere can be regarded as an observation gallery where you can see all the other buildings.
The Center was officially inaugurated on the 15th of April 1977, with five blocks (A, B, C, D and G). The condo then received the first enterprises: Santista Trigo, Fábrica de Tecidos (Fabric Factory) Tatuapé, Tintas Coral (paint) and Quimbrasil. The first ones were received with huge support structure and many services: five restaurants, four banks, medical care, barber shop and among others.
In the following years the 2 missing blocks were harmonically built. In 1984, the E block and in 1988 the F one. As predicted in the original project the Center has become a trademark in real state regarded as a modern reference. Many companies came to the condo seeking after comfort, security and economy. Not only due to its modern facilities and competitive prices, but mainly for the technological innovations the center offers.
These innovative concepts represent economy in indirect costs, in maintenance and operation. They also represent access to strategic technology directly connected to companies’ negotiations. One example is the telecommunications system used in the Center - Centro Empresarial, at the time, considered one of the most modern and efficient in the country. Since then, it has not changed whatsoever; the investments in telecom have been guided by a continuous modernization project.
The center- Centro Empresarial de São Paulo is run by Panamby Empreendimentos e Participações Ltda. The company is a mayor shareholder and trustee of the condo.
Besides maintaining the "Intelligent Office", concept the complex also counts on a shopping center that matches space with convenience and comfort to users.
Nowadays there are more than 50 companies in the condo. The shopping center has 54 shops, 32 restaurants and 9 bank branches. Multiplicity is the center’s trademark. It is a truly natinallywise reference when it comes to corporate environment.
